The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency is a series of ten novels by British author Alexander McCall Smith. The agency is located in Gaborone, capital of Botswana. Its founder is a Motswana woman, Mma Precious Ramotswe, who features as the stories' protagonist and main detective. The episodic novels are as much about the adventures and foibles of different characters as they are about solving mysteries.
Yesterday I felt a small sense of accomplishment. I managed to finish reading The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency. It had been a while since I felt like I had started and finished doing something.
ReplyDeleteI know you're probably thinking "what the crap! I thought we were reading Man's Search for Meaning?". Well, it turns out, like all of you, I got burnt out from reading it and half way through and couldnt concentrate. I didn't want that to stop me from reading. So I picked up a different more fun book instead. I finished it faster than it took me to read half the other book. But I am going back to where I left off.
Detective Agency is kinda fun and interesting. Precious, the leading character, I can relate to her in so many ways. I might even say we the same nosy tendencies I USED to have. She's pretty good at what she does and most importantly, she enjoys what she does; solving people's mysteries and at the same time helping them.
In a lot of the things she does, she really wants to make her dead father happy. I know a lot of gals share this in common; wanting to make our parents and family happy. Never wanting to disappoint them in anything we do. The key here is doing that but also being content in what we do.
